Girl Friday Weddings is rapidly growing and to support the team during the 2010/2011 busy spring/summer wedding season, we now require an experienced Event Manager to assist with preparation, planning and coordinating weddings. This is an hourly role and the incumbent will be expected to contract their services to Girl Friday Weddings and will need to be eligible for an ABN.

The Event Manager will be required to provide proof of public liability insurance, and to supply their own equipment which will allow them to do the job. This includes access to a computer with an internet connection, a vehicle and a mobile phone. Applicants should be confident in delivering all three components of this role

·         Sales – Meeting with prospective clients to discuss their needs and how Girl Friday Weddings may be of service.

·         Planning – Assisting with wedding prep leading up to the day. This includes meeting with any vendors, client pre-briefing sessions, site visits and rehearsals.

·         Wedding Day Coordination – Be onsite to facilitate and coordinate the events on the day.

Responsibilities: 

·         The Event Manager will work within a fast paced team and should be flexible to act either as the Event Manager, or in a supporting role to the Event Manager as demand dictates.

·         The applicant should be comfortable in working together as a team, not step on each other’s creative toes and meet deadlines. Must be able to resolve disputes quickly and fairly amongst vendors and may oftentimes find these duties extending to the bridal party and guests.

·         Be comfortable in managing and coordinating third party vendors

·         Communicate requests from Client to vendors and facilitate all requests in a timely manner.

·         Actively assist team members with their workload and be willing to partner with all team members on an as needed basis.

·         Respond immediately or contact the Director immediately to perform service recovery as appropriate, or when problems need to be escalated.

·         Practice active listening when communicating with the client and their guests to ensure their needs are successfully met.

·         Although much of the liaison with vendors is done during normal weekday hours the main consultation time with couples and their families is done on evenings and weekends. Most ceremonies take place on weekends. The applicant should be flexible to accommodate calls at out of office hour as clients schedules usually dictate.

Required Qualifications:  

·         5 Years + in an Event Management position

·         Demonstrated strong Client Service skills

·         Ability to manage conflict/resolution

·         Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision making skills

·         Ability to learn additional software programs specific to the role

·         Extremely high attention to detail

·         Professional office etiquette

·         Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

·         Self motivated to work independently as well as on a team and have the ability to multi-task

·         Computer proficiency

·         Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including weekends and holidays
